About half of the articles published at Authentic Theology last year — 18 of 34 — related to women’s roles in the church, mostly because of the feedback I received.  My readers wanted to hear more and deeper on the topic.

All three of the most viewed, shared, and commented on articles published last year addressed that subject.

Here are the top 3 of 2019:

1. “10 Churches of Christ Where Women Speak in the Assembly: List and Links (Part 1),” AuthenticTheology.com (March 26, 2019)

—– Listed 10 churches in which women speak in the worship assembly, providing a link to the scripture study materials provided by each church.

2.  “One of Largest Churches of Christ Opens Preaching Role to Women — And Some Questions,” AuthenticTheology.com (September 17, 2019)

—– Noted that one of the largest Churches of Christ congregations now allows women to preach and asked if it is moral to participate in worship services in which women and young girls are prohibited from speaking because of their sex?

3.   “Church of Christ Decline Worsens, 2400 a Month Depart, Treatment of Women & Girls Factor,” AuthenticTheology.com (November 13, 2019)

—- Pointed out the recent acceleration in the number of people departing Churches of Christ and described factors and evidence, including that evangelical Christianity as a whole stayed approximately steady while the Churches of Christ shrank rapidly, suggesting that its treatment of women and girls plays a significant role in its decline.

An article from 2018 was in the top 3 most viewed of 2019, so I thought I would mention it, too:

“20 Passages Asking Women to Speak, Teach, Lead, and Have Authority Over Men, In the Assembly  and Elsewhere,” AuthenticTheology.com (September 3, 2018)

—- Quotes 20+ passages asking women to speak, teach, lead, and have authority over men, in an assembly and elsewhere, which indicates that 1 Tim 2:12 and 1 Cor 14:34-35 does not mean that women are not to speak, teach, lead, and have authority over men in an assembly.

Conclusion

Thank you for reading in 2019!

I hope 2020 is a good year for you and for us all.
