Ridiculous. No one and I mean NO ONE is a captive audience. Everyone is free to come and go as they please. Attendance is by free will only. If a girl wants to take on a leadership position, the answer is simple. Go down to the Baptist denomination and do so! We are unapologetically countercultural.
Hi Devy, Thank you for your comment. It ignores substance and makes obviously false statements, though.
(a)
You say “No one and I mean NO ONE is a captive audience. Everyone is free to come and go as they please. Attendance is by free will only. If a girl wants to take on a leadership position, the answer is simple. Go down to the Baptist denomination and do so!”
But what you say is obviously false.
Young girls in the congregation are obviously not free to come and go as they please
Young girls are precisely the ones being harmed most by discrimination against girls and women in the church.
Many others are not free to come and go, either, as their attendance is necessitated by a spouse, by other family, by being taught that going to any other place is not going to “the Lord’s church,” etc.
And many others are present not realizing that such discrimination is harming their daughters or themselves for the long term until it is too late.
(b)
You say “We are unapologetically countercultural.”
But culture for centuries and centuries and centuries (and today), worldwide …. involves discrimination against girls and women.
Such pervasive, long-time culture of sex discrimination is the reason laws had to be made to prohibit discrimination against women in the workplace.
You are not counter-cultural when you discriminate against girls and women.
Just the opposite, you follow such culture when you discriminate against girls and women.
Unapologetic, perhaps, but not countercultural.
